We chose to stay in the area because we wanted to see some real life Amish people. It was a late start, but as we set out for the day, we stopped at the village across the street from our campground to look around for Amish people. We didn't have to look very far. The Heinz Cheese Chalet as well as every other business here is owned and operated by the Amish or Mennonite people.

It was fun to watch them make cheese and listen to them speak a Dutch dialect to one other. We then walked across the street to Kaufman's bakery and sampled some cheese, bread, and bought some pie and a few sandwiches for lunch.

Once we actually got on the road, they they were right along the side of the road. Real Amish people in theyr horse & buggy.

Once we arrived in Sandusky, we stopped at the Walmart to load up and had planned to stay at the Great Wolf Lodge. After looking around, we decided not to stay, but instead just ate dinner there and then moved on to the campground a few minutes away in Cedar Point.

Our campground at Lighthouse Point was literally in the shadow of Cedar Point Amusement Park. This tiny peninsula is very exposed as it juts out into Lake Erie. Once the RV was hooked up, we took in some local history and the kids road around on their skateboards and played giant shuffleboard. However, the games were put to end a little prematurely as a storm was brewing and it started to rain.

We ate dinner, started a load of laundry and then hunkered down in the RV as we watched the storm roll in from the other side of Lake Erie. During the middle of the storm, I headed out to the laundry area to move some clothes to the dryer and start another load. I got soaked in the process, but they clothes stayed dry as I carried them back to the RV.
