From our campsite, it was a short drive down the road to the Corning Museum of Glass. During the 30 minute drive, we passed by some of my favorite barns.

Once inside the museum, the interactive area of the museum was separated into several sections. In this area, there were several exhibits dedicated to how glass in used in a myriad of industrial applications. This glass sculpture illustrated the many stages of how a glass/ceramic bowl is made.

Below, the mirror exhibit section is highlighted by the periscope allowing us to take a peek outside to the surrounding countryside.

My favorite exhibit, showing the various Fresnel lenses that were installed in many lighthouses around the world.

The "static" portion of the museum was displaying many pieces of glass artwork. Using a layered effect of stacked glass you can see Kristen's 3D reflection below.

We also wandered over to the interactive section of the museum and the kids were able to get their hands on experience making a glass object. Here, Rachel is using a torch to add some color to the glass bead she was making.

Tyler chose to make a large Christmas ornament. Here, he is blowing through the pipe as the instructor shapes the ornament at the opposite end.

Luke chose to make a similar Christmas ornament. We chose to ship the objects home and not risk damaging them in the RV.

Later in the afternoon, we hopped on the transit bus and headed a couple of miles away to the Rockwell Museum of Western Art.
