Even though there were several in the area, we left New Hampshire without visiting a single covered bridge. But, immediately after crossing the Vermont state line, we entered the city of Brattleboro and the Creamery Bridge was located right next to the highway with a nice empty parking lot we could easily get to. Today this bridge only functions as a footbridge and tourist stop. We parked there to take some pictures and eat our picnic.

We stopped to get gas just after entering New York. Next to the gas station there was a neat store that sold all kinds of hand made wood furniture and other carvings. Outside, the owner carving up his latest bear inspiration using a chainsaw.

The bear carvings came in all sizes. Rachel found her favorite.

Our plan was to stay at the KOA in Watkins Glen, NY, but we weren't going make it there in time for dinner. So along the way pulled off the highway to try and find a 5 Guys Burger which Kristen had seen on the map. However, technology failed us. We discovered that the electronic navigation dot that we had been following sent us to the wrong side of the highway in Binghampton, NY and several miles from where we intended to eat. It was not a big city, but we just didn't feel like getting on the highway just to go backwards. So I drove up the street and we found an empty church parking lot where we settled on making sandwiches for dinner. The stop also gave me a chance to get out and check the RV suspension which had been making a strange noise. We raised the jacks up and down a couple of times and the noise was noticeable, but I couldn't find anything to fix, so we just hoped it was nothing serious and moved on.
Not too far from our destination we drove through the village (not city) of Horseheads, NY. This place has a interesting and strange history. Continuing up the road, when we finally arrived at the KOA in Watkins Glen, the kids were anxious to get out of the RV and play. Not really a surprise...their favorite thing at the KOA campground was this jumping pillow.
