We started our morning at Colonial Williamsburg. It's a recreation of the settlement that was originally there. There are actors that dressed for the period. This was a friend of George Washington.

I enjoyed seeing these oxen. They work together as a team to bring crops into town.

After visiting Williamsburg, we had lunch in our RV. We had bought a 6-pack of Williamsburg Root Beer that we enjoyed with our sandwiches. Then we were on to Jamestown. We opted to visit the Historic Jamestown where archeologists have unearthed history instead of the Jamestown Settlement that has the re-created villages. I had my picture taken with Pocahontas.

This woman acted as a settler of Jamestown. She told us her story, created from the accounts of a real settler. She told us what our jobs would be if we lived in Jamestown. My job would be planting tobacco seeds. Tyler would pick off little leaves, so that the bigger leaves could grow more. Luke would pull worms off of the plants. My mom would take care of our family, and my dad would be a builder.

This is a view of the James River.

We listened to a guide talk about how the changes in the dirt color show them where posts were placed. This area was likely a basement/root cellar. They are actively uncovering artifacts here.

We tried to meet up with some friends who had moved to Virginia, but one of their kids woke up sick so we weren't able to see them. Our tours took us longer than we had anticipated, and we ended up having to stop for the second time in two days to eat at Chick-fil-A, but that's ok by me because I love CFA! We continued on to Charlottesville. Our KOA was out in wine country. We arrived in time to make s'mores and head to bed.
