Watching Nascar over the last few years I became familiar with Watkins Glen because of it's famous racetrack, but as I was planning the trip I came across Watkins Glen State Park and it became a must see. Located just a few miles away from the campsite and literally right in the middle of the village of Watkins Glen made it one of the most accessible places to get to.

Once there, the main entry is through a small slot in the rock wall with a waterfall and bridge just beyond.

Inside the narrow gorge the water

A gorgeous waterfall that you can walk right underneath

Once we hit the end of the trail, we had to circle back and cross of this bridge to continue onto the other side of the return trail.

There are apparently 832 stone steps located along the gorge trail. Every bit as steep as it looks, we were smart enough to go down this section instead of up.

The family hanging out on the bridge.

One last shot of the gorge on the way out.

After visiting the gorge, we took a short drive to Montour falls. You cannot see it in the picture, but this is the backyard view of a few houses in the neighborhood.

We still had some energy left in us, so we decided to pay a visit to Watkins Glen International Race Track. We had the whole place to ourselves.

Listen to the whine of these Porsches as they race by.
