On the way out of Oklahoma, we stopped by to see my dad's cousin, Kate. She and her husband live in Chekotah, OK and operate an animal shelter. We visited with many dogs, talked about tornadoes (severe weather was coming our way) and ate a quick lunch. Of course, Rachel, wanting to be a vet, absolutely loved this place...and found a new friend that she wanted to take home.

We crossed the line into Arkansas and the landscape became so much more green. The Arkansas River weaves back and forth so we crossed it several times.

As we came through Mayflower, just north of Little Rock, we saw tornado damage from 2 years ago. Severe weather was on our minds as this is what our projected map was. We decided to stay in a hotel instead of riding out the thunderstorms in the RV. The storm chasers Mike follows were all traveling to this area anticipating possible tornadoes.

We got to the hotel at 7pm and since I had already planned to make tacos for dinner I just made dinner in the parking lot.

We spent the rainy Monday getting hamburgers across the street at Mooyah (surprisingly very good) and enjoying the hotel's heated indoor swimming pool.
